On 9 September 2026, the Government of Malaysia initiated an anti-dumping duties investigation on imports of Stainless Steel products in Coils, Sheets or any other form originating or exported from the Republic of Indonesia under the Harmonised System Code and ASEAN Harmonised Tariff Nomenclature Codes 7219.31.00 00, 7219.32.00 00, 7219.33.00 00, 7219.34.00 00, 7219.35.00 00, 7219.90.00 00, 7220.20.10 00 and 7220.20.90 00 (Subject Merchandise)
Represented by TSL Legal, Bahru Stainless Sdn Bhd (Petitioner), a leading Malaysian producer of the Subject Merchandise, filed a petition on behalf of Malaysia’s stainless-steel industry seeking the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation.
In support of the petition, the Petitioner furnished evidence indicating that the Subject Merchandise originating in or exported from the Republic of Indonesia had been imported into Malaysia at dumped prices. The Petitioner further contended that these dumped imports had caused material injury to Malaysia’s stainless-steel industry.
Following its evaluation of the petition and the supporting evidence, the Government of Malaysia determined that there was sufficient evidence to justify the initiation of a formal anti-dumping investigation.
All interested parties who wish to participate in the anti-dumping duties investigation may contact the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in writing to request for a copy of the questionnaire by 24 September 2026 and return the same by 9 October 2026 (being 15 and 30 days respectively from 9 September 2026, the date of publication of the gazette notification of the initiation of the anti-dumping investigation).
